Project Description

Westfield Broadway 277 and 309 is for a premium shopping experience and consisting of a 5 floor main building, with 6 cinemas on top, separate 7 levels car park building and a two level pedestrian bridge linking the new 309 Broadway mall to the existing 277 Broadway shopping mall. The main building consists of an underground car park and 3 levels of shops. The cinema foyer, a gymnasium are located at level 4 as well as Part of level 4 is a car park and part a gym. The main building has also a partial level 5 car park floor. The main building each floor area has 11,500.00 square meter.

The structural form comprised of light weight structural steel framed concrete floors on steel beams and columns.  This system allowed for the condensed construction programme and still being the most cost-effective flooring system in the market.  Gravity loads are primarily supported on concrete filled hollow steel posts which maximises load carrying capacity and net leasable area over its alternatives.  Fire rating these columns is unnecessary providing further economies. The roof is of light weight steel construction and the foundation comprise of conventional reinforced concrete piles bedded in to the rock strata below.

Westfield Broadway 309 will be the largest shopping mall in New Zealand.
