123 Victoria Street is a design-and-build project delivering7,000 sqm of premium office space over four floors, above a ground-level dedicated to retail and hospitality. Located prominently on a major thoroughfare, this development required meticulous coordination to manage construction logistics and maintain effective traffic and pedestrian flow.
Structural efficiency was central to the project's success, with DHC providing integrated structural and civil engineering, and D&H Steel providing fabrication, and installation services. The design utilised Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs), chosen for their high ductility and superior seismic performance, resulting in a highly economical and resilient structural system specifically tailored to Christchurch's seismic conditions.
This approach provided substantial construction efficiencies and cost savings, while ensuring the building’s structural integrity, safety, and functionality in an active urban environment.
